According to the Wikipedia entry, the power of ONE cyclone is estimated at 10^15 Watts, that is to say, 200 times the electrical power generated worldwide.
Even if climate change produces a small number of extra hurricanes and typhoons a year, burning carbon fuels generates a lot more power in the form of hurricanes than in the form of electricity. An incredible form of leverage!
This mechanism would not work if it were true that humans cause hurricanes by allowing people of the same sex to marry, or that global warming is caused by Fernando Henrique Cardoso's neoliberal policies. These arguments may not be scientifically tenable but who knows?

ok, but I am quite sure that the fall of the USSR was caused by the combination of two factors: Tele Santana's Soccer team defeat in 1982 and the lack of Xerox machines in Moskow.
